One of the most frequently asked questions regarding betting on horses, whether it be harness or thoroughbred is, what is a quinella? One answer is
that a quinella or a quinnella, is a form of parimutuel horse betting in which you must pick the first two horses to finish the race in the first and second
position, either order.
Nothing really, other than a quinella usually allows a minimum $1 bet/wager while an exacta box is a $2 bet or wager. So when placing a Quinella bet you are trying to predict the top two horses in the race. However, much like an exacta you can also place a "quinella box". This allows you to select or choose additional horses and your wager amount will be in accordance with the number of horses you choose and the number of subsequent possible combinations. Ultimately, if you know what an exacta box is you know what a quinella or a quinella box is. The major difference is just that a quinella is essentially automatically boxed while an exacta requires boxing. |
